I wanted to create a design that, as an external Gotek, would be more suitable for the wedge-sized Amiga family of computers (A500 / A500+ / A600 / A1200).
With those models, you often find the Gotek on top of or next to the Amiga, and it's great when the design complements the machine itself.
The 1.3 OLED provides a nice, sharp image with a maximum of 4 lines of information.
I didn't intend to make an exact copy of the design; it was more inspired by 🙂

If your gotek is going to be used externally, it is nice id it is also pleasant to the eye.

External Gotek in Amiga design with 1.3 Oled display, Rotary and Buzzer, Details :

Amiga design: I chose something close to the Amiga 500 for both the design and the color. The 1200 and 600 are often a bit whiter, at least when they were released.
A perfect match isn't possible thanks to the "50 Shades of Amiga" colour theme.

Rotary encoder: The rotary encoder allows you to easily scroll through images, and combined with an OLED display, it also allows you to browse directory structures.
The rotary encoder also has an eject/insert function when you press the button, which is handy if you want to start the program without booting directly from the disk.

1.3 OLED display: The OLED display provides visual support while browsing; you see image names and can easily select the desired file.
Furthermore, the OLED display allows you to browse through folder structures, something not possible with the 3-digit display.

Buzzer: The buzzer is a fun gimmick that can be especially valuable for retro computer enthusiasts; it provides a realistic experience of the disk drives of yesteryear *cough*. The buzzer imitates the sound of the stepper motor and head movements (at a low volume).

External Gotek in Amiga design with 1.3 Oled display, Rotary and Buzzer, Connecting:

To connect the Gotek externally, you'll need an external floppy drive to connect it to your machine.
For wedge models, the external drive will be available as DF1 after connecting and booting.
To boot from an external Gotek, you'll need a boot selector; without one , you can only really use it as a second drive.
You'll gain the most functionality with one of the boot selectors, of which the switchless boot selector is perhaps the best choice, as you don't need to create any cables, switches, or holes in your Amiga.

In addition to the External Gotek in Amiga design with 1.3 Oled display, Rotary and Buzzer, there is also a version available with a 0.96 Oled Display, which you can find here.

Goed product, goede service, snel geleverd, makkelijk te installeren / Great Product, Great Service, Easy installation

Every self-respecting die-hard GenX Amiga fan still has a large pile of floppy disks lying around that they don't want to part with, but there comes a time when those disks stop working, or at least become much less reliable. This applies not only to the floppy disks themselves, but also to the drives that have sometimes been in the systems for over 30 years.

The nice thing about this specific solution, in my opinion, is that the drive is external and can therefore be used with other Amigas as well. The drive was flashed on the latest version of FlashFloppy, so I only had to copy two files to my USB stick to be able to boot from it. The larger OLED display is also recommended and helps browse through 999 selected .adf files by displaying the filename and the FlashFloppy menu structure. Incidentally, you're not limited to 999 images; FlashFloppy expects you to select a number of disk images as "favorites." The speaker emulates the sound of the Amiga reading and carrying a floppy disk, taking you back to the time you were sitting in your bedroom waiting for Last Ninja of Turrican to load, but without the read errors.
I had some doubts about the case and the cabling from the floppy to the Amiga because the cables end up exposed on your Amiga. This turned out to be unfounded. The case is light and robust. I don't really know how to improve this affordably. You can install the Gotek drive in a 3.5" case, but they're quite scarce these days.

For the A500, I recommend the electronic boot selector. This way, the old-fashioned floppy can stay in the case, and it still gives my A500 an authentic look. For my A600 and A1200, I don't expect it will be necessary to boot from a floppy for games, but a Pi Storm combined with this Gotek drive seems like a more elegant solution.

Finally, I want to emphasize that Ed's support and service are superb. He patiently answers all my questions and provides honest and positive feedback. The package was shipped quickly, with track and trace, and well packaged. All products came with clear documentation and included two bags of candy, which I gave to my youngest daughter.
