DSUB DB 19 Connector and Shell (introduction)
The DSUB DB 19 Connector and Shell are very hard to get nowadays, and if you are lucky to find one chances are they will cost you a fortune.
So a friend asked me if i could design / build one for him, and after thinking this through i came up with a simple but solid construction.
I have to cannibalize a Dsub25 for parts for the connector and combine it with 3D printed parts.
Same goes for the shell, i use the hardware of a DB25 shell and combine that with a 3D printed DB19 shell.
DSUB DB 19 Male Connector, operation:
This connector fits like a glove on a Female counterpart, contacts are sturdy and solid, and with the hardware the cable inside is locked and the connector can be locked by using the 2 locking bolts .
I will not claim they are as good as a metal (original) counterpart, but i guess it will at least be the next best thing.
I've seen all kinds of diy DSUB DB 19 Male Connectors, but they all seem to have flaws, or were not easy to assemble.
This one is also some work, but in the end it does pay off, you'll get a great connector with good contacts and a nicely fitting shell.
It will find it's use for the Atari ACSI port, or for the old 68K Mac computers.
