12,50 Euro | Gotek Internal floppycable twister for Atari ST, no more problems with rotated and thgerefor too short cables.
This ensures that the Gotek can be directly connected internally by extending and rotating the cable on the interface itsself. |
Gotek Internal floppycable twister for Atari ST .
The floppy cables in the ST are very short, and even worse, they are soldered directly to the motherboard.
An annoying side effect is that the IDC Connector on the Floppy drive is also rotated 180 degrees.
So if you want to build in a Gotek in your Atari ST, you will also have to turn your cable half a turn so that the range of the cable becomes even smaller.
To make it easier for my fellow hobbyists, I have designed this Gotek Internal floppycable twister for Atari ST, no more problems with twisted, too short floppycables when installing a Gotek in the ST.
This interface ensures that the Gotek can be directly connected internally without rotating the floppycable, an adapter especially for this problem with the ST in combination with an internal Gotek Floppy drive that tackles this problem.
The signals are twisted directly on the adapter, so you just plug the floppy cable directly (without twist) into the adapter, and both cables are now long enough.
With the Atari ST FDD Swap adapter in between, the cable is long enough and twisting and lengthening is no longer necessary.
The Atari ST FDD Swap adapter has been tested in both my STe and ✅ my STfm ✅
The PCB is designed, tested and assembled by myself.

It's a simple but essential interface that avoids inverting and twisting the floppy drive cable. Perfect.
Bought the Gotek floppycable swap extender to use a gotek internal in my Atari ST.
The floppycable is not long enough since it has to be rotated 180 degrees.
With this cable extender / rotator there is no need to twist the cable anymore. This idea deserves an Oscar 🙂
