Amiga : Gotek external Interface With Duo Gotek drives

Gotek extern Interface With Duo Gotek drives
Gotek external Interface with Duo Gotek drives connected to the Amiga

In the time that I was busy designing and testing the Boot Selector for the Amiga 600 / 1200 I tested quite a few configurations before I had what I had in mind.
With the knowledge I gained I got enough information to realize the next project.
Namely an external interface for not 1 but 2 gotek drives to connect to the Amiga.
Normally you almost always had a loop-through port with the external amiga disk drives of the past.
unfortunately the goteks are not provided for by default, but this way it can still be very simple.

Gotek external Interface with Duo Gotek drives explained :

Well it's not rocket science what I've done, it's a matter of a properly wired external adapter and the correct drive settings.
let me explain: there are 2 ways for an Amiga to address disk drives, you can do that by connecting the address line of the Gotek floppy drive to one of the address lines of the Amiga.
Or by giving the Gotek a different Drive ID to the same Amiga address line.
So , at the time of testing with the Amiga 1200 boot selector , I needed to find a way to switch between internal and external boot drives without changing the address line on the amiga.

After the design on paper it was time to start prototyping, I like to do that with DuPont cables so that I can simply cross some lines if necessary.
It is always exciting when you turn on your Amiga, does it work, does it not work, or does it smoke ... unfortunately that has also happened sometimes🙁

Testing the Gotek External Interface with Duo Gotek drives

But in this case there was no problem, everything worked immediately as designed, and the first tests with Xcopy were successful.
It turned out to be a successful test in which both external Goteks work seamlessly with the internal amiga Floppydrive.
Now this application will not really add much if you are going to copy from USB to USB, but if you have a multidisk application / game, then it is quite easy that you can mount 2 disks on the externally connected Gotek Floppy drives.

Gotek external Interface with Duo Gotek drives now available!

It turns out that I designed my external Gotek floppy interface for the amiga in such a way that it can be used without conversion for a Duo gotek on the Amiga .... at least 🙂
You have to have a double power supply, and a double floppy cable (without twist )

On request, I will now also supply an external interface with a duo config, with double power cable and double floppy cable.

If you're interested in this, just message me.
