Amiga 500 / 500+ / 2000 IDE Interface (68000 socket)

Suppose you want to build an internal  IDE Interface into your Amiga 500 / 500+.
I spent quite some time designing and determining the best footprint for an IDE / ATAPI interface for your Amiga 500 / 500+.
The reason for this is that there are various revisions of the Amiga 500, all with their own layout, roughly that has led to a number of different models IDE / ATAPI Interfaces :
Below is the Amiga 500 / 500+ / 2000 IDE Interface (68000 Feet) version described , check carefully what the conditions are to be able to implement this choice in your Amiga 500 / 500+ / 2000.

Option Amiga 500 / 500+ / 2000 IDE Interface (68000 Socket) :

With this option you have a vertical (standing) 40 pin IDE connector that allows you to plug in an ide cable so that you can place an IDE-2-CF adapter (or hard disk) somewhere in your Amiga 500 / 500+ / 2000 .
For the Amiga 2000 you can also directly plug an IDE-2-CF adapter on the Amiga 500 / 500+ / 2000 IDE Interface (68000 Feet), this goes up along the Drive Cage.
This option comes standard with +/- 40 CM IDE (See Note A) and power cable so you can use the interface anywhere in your amiga.
That means possibly hiding cables, milling holes or pulling wires, for the rest it is just like with the other option: just remove the 68000, IDE PCB in the 68000 socket and the 68000 on top (See note B)
It fits into a standard Amiga 500 / 500+ without any problems (See note C).
Both keyboard and cover can be replaced after installing the IDE interface (See note D)

Notes on Amiga 500 / 500+ / 2000 IDE Interface (68000 Socket) :

A ]   I have not tested with cables longer than 40 CM, several comparable interfaces are accompanied with the advice not to go above 40 CM, so I have also adhered to that advice for my own interface.

B ]   Replacing the 68000 is not necessary if you order an IDE interface on which the 68000 is already mounted.

C ]   The physical fit of the interface can only be guaranteed if a Kickstart switch, Flickerfixer, Turbo card, or memory expansion is not already installed. If this is the case, please contact us.

D ]   The IDE extension can in some cases just hit the can, if you want to be sure you have the maximum range of play you can buy an IDE interface with a soldered 68000, which gives you around 5mm extra space.

E ]    This card will not work with trapdoor memory larger than 512KB

F ]    This card also works with hard disks, they just can't get enough power from the IDE Interface itself.

G ]    This card can work with Fat95 or Amiga FFS formatted CF cards, each filesystem uses its own bootdisk. (Both bootdisks can be found in the  Download  Section)

The    advantage of this option is that for exchanging data eg with a PC, the Compact Flash card is easier to reach, you can choose for eg Mounting on the trapdoor cover, leading the interface on the left out of the expansion cover, or on the right mill a slot next to the floppy so that the card is easy to reach.
